Design Elements
Located along the shores of Calabria in southern Italy, lie the remnants of a historical complex - the Thermal Baths of Curinga. Dating back to the Imperial Era, these ancient baths offer a glimpse into the world of ancient Romans.
Our approach involves designing a roof structure that not only protects the site but also reintroduces it to modern visitors. In our design process, we begin by outlining our design boundaries, aligning them with the building's outline and existing above-ground walls.
The design of these structural frames within the ensemble serves to frame specific views and perspectives, directing the viewer's gaze to key historical elements.
In essence, our goal is not only to preserve and museumize the Thermae but also to seamlessly integrate modern design elements that enhance the overall visitor experience, allowing them to immerse themselves in the historical narrative of the Thermal Baths of Curinga.
